RV Winterization: What Improper Preparation Can Really Cost You

Nightmare Machine

How Fear Became the Enemy of Faith — and What Sets Us Free

As we sit and ponder the realities we have created, we must ask ourselves a very important question: What do we want? Most of us have no clear answer — and so we continue to live by default. Everything in our lives today has been shaped by thought. Whether intentional or not, those thoughts have constructed our realities.

"The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination and intention of all human thinking was only evil continually." — Genesis 6:5

Everything — from what we think of ourselves to what we believe others think of us — plays a powerful role in how we interpret our lives. It all comes down to interaction. We are fields of energy existing within a larger field of divine energy. This is what I often refer to as God’s energy. God is everywhere and in all things — constantly working through us, co-creating our lives with us through thought, and facilitating that creation through the assistance of heavenly beings.

"God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." — John 4:24

"For He will give His angels special charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways." — Psalm 91:11

The Catechism affirms the reality of angelic guidance in our lives:

"From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life." — CCC 336

When Power Hijacked the Gospel

This truth — that God speaks to us, guides us, and works through us — has been very difficult for some Christians to accept. And that difficulty did not arise by accident.

Over centuries, fear was deliberately cultivated in the hearts of the faithful — not for their protection, but for the preservation of power. As we look back to the early medieval period and examine the events surrounding the brutal suppression of independent Christian movements in Europe, this becomes impossible to ignore.

The earliest governments saw what the ministry of Jesus had produced: a people so transformed by love that they faced torture and death without flinching. These followers of Christ were making a statement so powerful that Rome could not defeat it. And so, operating on the oldest principle of empire: if you cannot beat them, absorb them.

Christianity was institutionalized. Unified. Standardized. Weaponized for control. Taxation became the prominent instrument of that campaign — and giving, which Scripture intended to flow freely from the heart, was slowly codified into a mandatory levy.

"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." — 2 Corinthians 9:7

This is why so many Christians have complained that their giving produced no fruit. Coerced giving carries no power. Giving must come from love. We cannot give with the expectation of receiving and call it faith. It is the power of genuine, heartfelt generosity — love for love — that is the conduit for the manifestation of miracles. God knows our thoughts and our intentions.

"When we give from the heart, incredible gifts will come pouring into our lives."

"Love does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it." — 1 Corinthians 13:5

This cycle — giving love, receiving love, giving love again — is what Jesus was teaching us from the beginning. It is the greatest commandment. Give love, receive love, give love again — and the power of love grows until it becomes all-encompassing. Darkness cannot survive in the light. This is the light of the world. It is the Kingdom within us.

"The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you." — Luke 17:20–21

The Nightmare Machine

This is precisely what the powers aligned against truth have feared for centuries upon centuries. If the faithful discover the Kingdom within — if they realize that God already dwells inside them and that they have direct access to divine love, wisdom, and guidance — then external structures of fear-based control lose their grip entirely.

Without fear, coercion becomes impossible. Without coercion, the machinery of institutional power stalls.

And so the solution was both brilliant and diabolical: label the interior life as dangerous. Classify any direct experience of the spiritual realm as demonic. Convince believers that their only path to safety and salvation ran exclusively through authorized institutional channels. Forgiveness would be available — for a fee. Protection would be offered — for loyalty.

Teachings that empowered the individual soul were edited from the canon. The original context of the Scriptures was reshaped to serve the needs of those in power. The government of the mind and the government of the soul formed a partnership — and together they constructed what I can only call a nightmare machine.

"The enemy who sowed it is the devil. The harvest is the close and consummation of the age, and the reapers are angels." — Matthew 13:39

This machine — powered by the fears of the people — created some of the wealthiest and most powerful institutions in human history. The people, conditioned over generations, rejected Truth without investigation and refused to examine evidence that contradicted their programmed beliefs. To seek verification of fact had been made heretical. To question was to sin.

"But when the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born subject to the Law." — Galatians 4:4

It is important to note here that the Church, in its authentic mission, has never been this machine. The Catechism is clear that the Church exists to lead souls to God — not to imprison them:

"The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself." — CCC 27

The corruption described here was a betrayal of that mission — not its fulfillment. The true Church has always pointed toward the Kingdom within, even when those who wielded her name pointed elsewhere.

New Wine for New Wineskins

How would the old order prevent its own collapse? The answer: instill fear about the coming of the new. Use the metaphor of old wineskins to exhibit the danger of new thought — and then invert its meaning. Convince people that the old is safe and the new is demonic. It was the most ingenious psychological program of all time. And it worked. Through fear, people closed their minds without examination to any idea that threatened the established order.

"And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the bottles destroyed; but new wine is to be put in new, fresh wineskins." — Mark 2:22

Old wineskins represent the old thoughts and belief systems — the rigid, fear-encrusted containers that can no longer hold what God is pouring out. New wine requires a new interior — a mind renewed, a heart open, a soul no longer governed by dread.

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." — Romans 12:2

We are standing at a threshold. The physical reality we have grown comfortable with is being penetrated by a growing spiritual reality we are not yet accustomed to. The invitation is to open — to stop letting those opposed to Truth post a "Beware of Demons" sign at the entrance to our own hearts, blocking our access to heaven’s gate through our own complicit thoughts.

By allowing the manipulation of our free will, we commit ourselves to wandering in the proverbial desert — circling endlessly just beyond the Promise.

"The Israelites walked forty years in the wilderness... because they did not hearken to the voice of the Lord." — Joshua 5:6

The Promise Still Stands

Ideas are the seeds of tomorrow’s Promise. When we block out the messages of God — the inspirations, the gentle nudges, the unmistakable stirrings of the Spirit — we never receive these incredible gifts. We stall the expansion of all that we are intended to be. We adopt the horror of ignorance and reject the peace of knowing.

God and His angelic messengers are limited by the law of free will. They cannot force their way into a closed mind. We cannot find Truth unless we seek it. It was for our own protection that God subjected Himself and all heavenly beings to this law. The door opens from the inside.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." — Matthew 7:7

The nightmare machine runs on fear. But there is something that fear cannot survive — something the machine has always known and always dreaded:

"You will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free." — John 8:32

The Kingdom is within you. It has always been. No institution put it there, and no institution can take it away. Seek it. Receive it. Live it.
